Nicaragua Declares Public Holiday For Valentine's Day

Nicaragua's vice president, Rosario Murillo, has announced that her husband, president Daniel Ortega, had authorized the declaration of a public sector holiday on Monday, February 14, 2022, on account of the upcoming Valentine's Day, also known as the Day of Love and Friendship in Nicaragua.
But is is the first time that the announcement of a one-off public holiday is related to Valentine's Day. It is not clear if this is to become an annual practice.
