South Korean 2023 Public Holidays Announced

The South Korean Ministry of Science and ICT, basing itself on data from the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute has announced the official dates of 2023 South Korean annual non-working public holidays, for a total of 53 Sundays and 16 public holidays, 2 of which fall on a Sunday.

As was the case with the announcements of the past 10 years (2021-11-29, 2020-06-15, 2019-03-26, 2018-03-16, 2017-03-01, 2015-12-08, 2014-12-12, 2013-09-23 and 2012-12-11), the aforementioned announcement of the official dates of 2023 South Korean annual non-working public holidays, include the dates of 2 elections, and it confirms the restoration of Hangeul Day, on October 9, as a non-working public holiday (2012-11-07).

The announced the official dates of 2023 South Korean annual non-working public holidays follow the Transfer Holiday Expansion Law (2021-08-03) which declares a day in lieu public holiday on the first working days that follows a South Korean public holiday falling on a weekend (2021-06-29, 2021-06-06, 2021-06-23 and 2021-06-16), amplifying a Substitute Holiday Bill passed 9 years ago (2013-05-03).
