The Union musulmane du Togo (UMT) has announced that the upcoming Aïd al-Fitr (End of Ramadan) would be observed on Monday, May 2, 2022, thus fixing the date of the corresponding annual non-working public holiday throughout Togo.
The date of the aforementioned announcement ("La journée du lundi 02 mai 2022, est déclarée fériée, chômée et payée au Togo en raison de la célébration de la fête de l’Aïd El Fitr") seem to be based on the Saudi Umm al-Qura calendar, as was the case in past years (2021-07-16, 2021-05-11, 2019-06-04, 2018-12-18, 2017-08-25, 2016-09-06, 2015-09-23, 2014-07-26, 2013-07-09 and 2011-11-02) and was followed by a communique by the Togolese Ministre de la Fonction publique, du travail et du dialogue social, Gilbert Bawara.
