The State Labor Service of Ukraine has confirmed that the date of the upcoming Orthodox Easter Monday, on April 25, 2022, would be a regular working day, as per the recently enacted Law of Ukraine "On the Organization of Labor Relations in Martial Law" № 2136-IX.
In mid-March, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's Parliament) adopted Law № 2136-IX, which essentially canceled public holidays in the Ukraine for the duration of martial law (2022-03-15).
Today's Government of Ukraine notification, entitled "Postponement of weekends during martial law" clarifies the changes to Ukrainian public holidays during the current war, with respect to the previously-released list of 2022 public holidays in the Ukraine (2021-08-26, 2021-08-23 and 2021-07-16).
Referring to articles 53, 71, 72, and 73 of the Ukrainian Labour Code, it explains that "This means that the above-mentioned articles of the Labor Code of Ukraine do not apply during martial law. Therefore, there are no official holidays or non-working days. Therefore, according to these general rules established by Law № 2136-IX, during the war, workers must work on Monday, April 25, 2022, with pay as on a normal (non-holiday) working day.".
