16 Apr 2009 (Barbados Government Information Services-BGIS) The government of Barbados has released it list of official public holidays for the calendar year 2010.
20 Feb 2008 (The Nation News) The Government of Barbados has declared tomorrow, February 21st to be the official "Rihanna Day". That day will be marked by a free concert to be given by the teenage pop singer Rihanna.
17 Jan 2008 (Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation) Following his victory in Tuesday's elections, Barbados Prime Minister, David Thompson, has declared a one-off public holiday on Friday, January 18, 2008.
21 May 2003 (Caribbean Media Corporation-Bridgetown) Barbados Prime Minister, Owen Arthur, declared a public holiday for Thursday, May 22, 2003, following his re-election to a third straight term in office.

Governing Law: The list and dates of official public holidays in Barbados are regulated by the Public Holidays (CAP352), "An Act to amend and consolidate the Acts relating to bank holidays and public holidays", of 1968, particularly in its Section 3 and First Schedule.
Weekend Public Holidays: Where a designated Public Holiday falls on a Sunday, the day after will be celebrated.
However, Emancipation Day, in Barbados, is fixed on August 1, and will only be moved uder very specific conditions.
