04 May 2012 (The Grand Ducal Palace of Luxembourg-Luxemburg) Luxembourg's Prime Minister, Jean-Claude Juncker, has announced that October 20, 2012, the date of the upcoming wedding of Prince Guillaume would not be a non-working national public holiday.
10 May 2008 (JDD) During a recent radio interview, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Jean-Claude Juncker, proposed that May 9th be made an annual public holiday throughout Europe. Jean-Claude Juncker, is considered German Chancellor Angela Merkel's favorite candidate for the newly created office of president of the European Council.

Governing Law: The law lists 10 official public holidays in Luxembourg which count as guaranteed days off work with pay, for all private-sector employees. In the public sector, there are an additional three full days and two half-days over and above the 10 official public holidays.
Weekend Public Holidays: Public Holidays falling on a Sunday are compensated for with another day off within 3 months of the original public holiday.
