Si tiene cualquiera pregunta sobre estos comentarios, por favor contáctanos. • Governing Law: Official public holidays in Iceland are regulated by the Act No. 88 of 1971 on a forty hour working week (Lagasafn, 1991, Ministry of Justice, Reykjavik, Iceland, Vol. I, pp. 618-619) which lists the full-day and half-day public holidays of Iceland. This act was amended in 1982, by the Act No. 94 of 1982 to amend Act No. 88 of 1971 on forty-hour working week (Lagasafn, 1991, Ministry of Justice, Reykjavik, Iceland, Vol. I, p. 618) which added a new annual public holiday in August.
• Weekend Public Holidays: Public holidays that occur on a weekend remain on that date (ie. they are not moved to another date, such as the following Monday, for example).
• However, The Central Bank of Iceland did close on the first Monday in January in 2005 and 2006, when New Year's Day did fall on a weekend. Other banks were open .
• Marine Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in June during the Festival of the Sea.
• Sovereignty Day (December 1): marks the 1918 Act of Union when Denmark recognised Iceland as a fully sovereign state, but it is not a public holiday. |
