The Government of Zimbabwe has gazetted Act 17 of 2001 which amends the current law regulating public holidays in Zimbabwe, the "Public Holidays and Prohibition of Business Act".
The aforementioned amendments to the "Public Holidays and Prohibition of Business Act (Chapter10:21)" occur in SCHEDULE (Section 2) where 3 new non-working public holidays are added: in Paragraph 8, "The second Monday in August and the day following, which shall be designated as Heroes' Day and Defence Forces National Day, respectively" and in Paragraph 9, "National Unity Day, being the 22nd December".
