Source: Statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Pretoria)
South African Minister of Home Affairs and President of the Inkatha Freedom Party, Mangosuthu Buthelezi, has announced that he had been mandated by the South African Cabinet to chair an inter-departmental task team to review the South African official public holidays calendar.
The departments identified to form the task team are Labour, Finance, Education and Environmental Affairs and Tourism.
It was not clear, from the aforementioned statement, if the delaration of election day dates as non-working public holidays (23-Nov-2000 and 28-Apr-1999) would be part of the review.
