Qatar Law No. 61 of 2007 announcing the day of Sheikh Jassem bin Mohamed bin Thani’s assumption of power as a national day in the state, has been gazetted.

Last April (05-Apr-2007), Qatar's Cabinet approved the draft law considering the day of Sheikh Jassem bin Mohamed bin Thani assumption of power in Qatar as a state National Day.

In compensation for the new public holiday on December 18, beginning in 2007, September 3 will no longer be a public holiday in Qatar.
