(Posted on Monday, September 8, 2008)

The Knesset's Joint House and Law rejected the central election committee's demand that the upcoming national referendum's election day be a public holiday, due to the high costs for the Israeli economy.

The Committee, however, approved the proposal requiring a national referendum be held before any further territorial concessions are made (05-Sep-2008).
