Argentina Declares Year-End Public Sector Holidays

(Posted on Tuesday, December 22, 2009)

Argentina's President, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, and Interior Minister, Florencio Randazzo, have co-signed Decree 2090/2009 which declares public sector holidays on Thursday, December 24, and Thursday, December 31, 2009.

This year-end decree, a relatively frequent occurrence (10-Dec-2008 and 05-Dec-2007), does not affect banks and financial markets ("la disposición no alcanza a las instituciones bancarias y entidades financieras") which, in any event, on an annual basis, already have the afternoon off on both December 24 and 31.
