Azerbaijan's Cadi Board of Caucasian Muslims Office has issued a fatwa concerning the Laylat al-Qadr and End of Ramadan holidays, which in Azerbaijan, will be held on Sunday and Monday, September 20-21, 2009.
The government of Azerbaijan announced that the End of Ramadan public holidays would be officially celebrated on the two days of September 20-21, despite the fact that one of these 2 days is a weekend, and that, in the past, such occurrences of one of the End of Ramadan public holidays on a weekend gave rise to an additional day in lieu public holiday (see, for example, 10-Oct-2007).
Earlier this month, the chief of the organizing department of Caucasian Muslims, Haji Fuad Nurulla, had announced that the month of Ramadan would begin on Saturday, August 22, 2009 (05-Aug-2009).
