Azerbaijan Electoral Public Holiday December 23

(Posted on Monday, November 30, 2009)

Source: Azeri Press Agency (APA)

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan has announced the date of the upcoming municipal elections as Wednesday, December 23, 2009.

This announcement follows an earlier one (06-Oct-2009) in which Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission Spokesperson, Azer Sariyev, announced that the upcoming Municipal elections, and related public holiday, would be held in the second half of December, after December 17-18.

The Labor Code was recently amended to make the date of any election a non-working public holidays throughout Azerbaijan, so we expect December 23, 2009, to be declared a one-off public holiday in Azerbaijan. Previously, only the dates of Presidential elections were declared public holidays (05-Feb-2009).
