Yesterday afternoon, Azerbaijan's Parliament (Milli Majlis) passed the pending bill on "Amendments and annexes to the Labor Code", creating a new, "State Flag Day", annual non-working public holiday on November 9th.
Last month (17-Nov-2009), at the behest of President Ilham Aliyev, the Social Policy Committee of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, recommended to the plenary session of the parliament that it approve the "draft law on amendments to the Labor Code", making Flag Day a public holiday.
Coincidentally, neighboring Tajikistan recently passed a law making its November 24th, National Flag Day, a new annual national holiday (12-Nov-2009), albeit in this case a regular working day holiday.
