Bahrain's Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, has released a communique declaring Sunday, December 20, 2010, as a day in lieu public sector holiday, for all ministries and governmental bodies.
The communique points out that, as per custom (24-Apr-2009 and 18-Jan-2007), this extra public sector holiday was decreed as the upcoming Islamic New Year public holiday occurs on Friday, December 18, one of the weekend days of Bahrain (02-Aug-2006).
In related news, the Bahrain Stock Exchange and the Central Bank of Bahrain have issued a communique declaring Sunday, December 20, 2009, as a financial market holiday. As such, the Bahrain Stock Exchange and the Central Bank of Bahrain will both be closed on that date. However, all commercial banks will be open for business.
