The government of Bangladesh has announced that the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr (End of Ramadan) public holidays would be extended by one day, if the Moon's crescent was not visible on Sunday night, September 20, 2009.
In such an event, the previously announced (12-Jan-2009) public holidays dates of September 20-22, would be extended for a fourth day, Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Such an extension of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr (End of Ramadan) public holidays is also being considered by Pakistan (14-Sep-2009).
Closer to home, yesterday, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) announced (15-Sep-2009) that it would extend its upcoming End of Ramadan market holidays, remaining closed from Wednesday, September 23, to Thursday, September 24, 2009.
