Bolivia Ratifies Corpus Christi Public Holiday For 2009

(Posted on Tuesday, June 9, 2009)

Bolivian presidential spokesman, Iván Canelas, has announced that the government of Bolivia had retained the upcoming, June 11, public holiday of Corpus Christi, for 2009 at least.

This confirmation had been hinted at (08-Apr-2009), when the Head of the Department of Labour for the Department of Oruro announced that the implementation of the recently approved new constitution (CPE) would probably mean that all the religious public holidays of Bolivia would be replaced by non-religious ones, over the next year or so, but that for 2009, they were likely to remain as previously announced.
