The government of Cameroon has confirmed that the upcoming Islamic New Year (aka. Al-Hijra, or simply, Muharram) would be observed on Friday, December 18, 2009, in Cameroon.

The government did, however, confirm that the date is not a public holiday, even for the public sector.
