The Governor of the Cayman Islands, Mr. Stuart Jack, CVO, has declared Friday, November 6, 2009, as a one-off public holiday, to commemorate the commencement of the 2009 Cayman Islands Constitution.
The declaration is contained in the Public Holidays Order 2009 which was published yesterday, as supplement No.2 in Extraordinary Gazette No.69, in accordance with section 2 of the Public Holidays Law (2007 Revision).
The Constitution was approved in the Wednesday, May 20, 2009, referendum which was also declared a public holiday (01-Dec-2008), after having been postponed from a date in the previous year's summer (13-Jul-2008).
Finally, note that Monday, November 9, 2009, is also a public holiday, the annual, Remembrance Day public holiday, meaning that Cayman Islanders will get a 4-day holiday.
