The regional government of China's autonomous region of Ningxia have declared Monday, September 21, 2009, a public holiday on the occasion of the End of Ramadan Muslim festival.
Regional public holidays are rare in China, but do occur once in awhile (19-Jan-2009, 06-Aug-2008, 23-Oct-2007, and 25-Oct-2006), although some regional initiatives are sometimes quashed by the central government (31-Mar-2009).
