Mao Xinyu, a member of China's National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and the grandson of late Chairman Mao Zedong, has proposed that China declare 2 public holidays to commemorate his grand-father.
The proposed dates would be December 26 (Mao's birthday) and September 9 (the day of his death). Initial reactions from web visitors on forums such as the Global Times Forum, was not positive.
