The President of the Gambia Supreme Islamic Council (GSIC), Alhagie Mahamadou Lamin Touray, announced yesterday, that Friday, November 27th, 2009, would be the date of the upcoming Muslim feast of Eid Al Adha, better known as Tobaski.
In its statement the council stated that it is was basing its decision on information from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia (ie. the Umm al-Qura calendar), yielding a date one day earlier than the November 28th date that had been anticipated until the council's press release.
Last year's Tobaski was announced for the day after that of Saudi Arabia (04-Dec-2008).
