Honduras Announces Year-End Public Sector Holidays

(Posted on Tuesday, December 22, 2009)

Honduras' Interior Minister (ministro de Gobernación y Justicia), Oscar Raúl Matute, has declared public sector holidays for the afternoon of Thursday, December 24, and Thursday, December 31, 2009.

In his announcement, the Minister had earlier emphasized his ministry's determination to keep the number of governmental non-working public holidays to a minimum, probably referring to the previous administration's 4 days of public sector holidays afforded at the end of 2008 (19-Dec-2008) or the 2 days of public sector holidays afforded at the end of 2007 (21-Dec-2007).

However, after a later meeting with President Micheletti, these 2 days were declared full-day public sector holidays.
