The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), which represents more than 750.000 workers and officers in the Indian banking industry, has confirmed that it would proceed with a strike on Thursday and Friday, August 6 and 7, 2009.
The UFBU convenor, C.H. Venkatachalam, added that apart from the 750.000 employees of public sector banks, staff and employees of private and foreign banks are also likely to participate in the strike.
