Tehran governor, Morteza Tamadon, has announced that the Iranian authorities have extended today's public holiday for another day, Wednesday, July 8, 2009, in the capital Tehran, after a sandstorm blotted out the already heavily polluted city.
Late Monday night, the Iranian government had declared a public holiday for today, Tuesday, July 7, 2009, also in Tehran, when pollution levels attained a level nine times above the norm (06-Jul-2009).
