The Prime Ministry council of the government of Iraq's Kurdistan region has announced upcoming public sector holidays for the month of March 2009, including, most notably, a change in the date of this year's Noruz public holiday.
The press release by the the head of the council, Mr. Noori Othman, stated that all institutions and departments of the region's government would observe March 5 (anniversary of the uprising outbreak), March 9 (a national public holiday for the Prophet's Birthday public holiday), March 11 (anniversary of Arbil City liberation).
Finally, and most interestingly, the press release includes the changed and extended dates of March 22-23 for the Noruz public holidays, usually observed on March 21 in Iraq (though Kazakhstan also extended the Novruz public holidays dates recently, as we reported in 04-Mar-2009).
