Jordan's Prime Minister, Nader Dahabi, has released a communique declaring public holidays for all Jordanian public institutions and government departments, from Thursday, November 26, through Monday, November 30, 2009, for the upcoming Eid Al-Adha (feast of sacrifice) holidays.
This represents a 1-day change of the Eid Al-Adha public holidays, as compared to the earlier official government decree (16-Feb-2007), which was meant to lock-in the official public holidays in Jordan, for the period of 2007-2011. However this last-minute change was not unexpected, as in past years, there are often last-minute changes to that forecast (10-Sep-2009 and 15-May-2009).
Although the aforementioned communique only officially applies to the public sector, the private sector, and particularly the banks and financial sector, are expected to follow suit, as was already partially hinted at last month (28-Oct-2009).
