The government of Kazakhstan has announced that the state public holidays for the upcoming Constitution Day will be celebrated on August 29, 30 and 31, 2009.
This follows from the occurrence of Constitution Day on a weekend in 2009, and the 2005 amended version of Kazakhstan's Labour Code and the Law on Holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan (28-Dec-2005) which states that "the days of the national and state holidays are non-working days" and that "in case of coincidence of a day off and a holiday, a day off will be the next day following the holiday".
In the past, the government of Kazakhstan has often tinkered with the working and non-working days that surround the annual Constitution Day public holiday (20-Aug-2007), although there have been exceptions to this practice (12-Dec-2008 and 25-Aug-2006).
Recall that, as per last spring's amendments to Kazakhstan's Law on Holidays (25-Apr-2009), the next public holiday in Kazakhstan will only occur at the end of November.
