Kazakhstan Declares January 8 Public Holiday

The government of Kazakhstan has declared a one-off bridge public holiday on Friday, January 8, 2010.

As per custom in such cases (01-Dec-2009, 21-Apr-2008 and 21-Nov-2007), this extra non-working public holiday will be compensated by having declared Sunday, January 10, 2010, as a regular working day. Note that such bridge public holidays declarations are not systematic (12-Dec-2008 and 25-Aug-2006).

In a separate, announcement, the government of Kazakhstan confirmed that Monday, January 4, 2010, would be a non-working public holiday, as January 2 falls on a weekend day. This day in lieu public holiday shall not be compensated.
