Kuwait's Civil Service Commission (CSC) has approved the extension of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr public holidays to run from Saturday, September 19 to Saturday, September 26, 2009.
This extension of the usual 2-day (3 days for civil servants and banks) to an 8-day period had been requested every year by Kuwait's religious parties (02-Sep-2009, 17-Aug-2008, 20-Sep-2007 and 13-Sep-2006), and partially agreed to, in principle, yesterday (09-Sep-2009), but must now be forwarded to the Cabinet for a final approval before being declared.
