Kyrgyzstan’s Spiritual Department of Muslims has approved the dates for the month of Ramadan in 2009, which will begin on Friday, August 21, 2009, and will finish on Saturday, September 19, 2009.
As a consequence, Sunday, September 20, 2009, has been confirmed as the date of the upcoming Orozo-Ait (End of Ramadan) public holiday in Kyrgyzstan, a date in line with those so far announced by Azerbaijan (05-Aug-2009), Egypt (02-Aug-2009) and the ISNA, for Muslims in Canada and the USA (02-Aug-2009).
Note, however, that the date announced for the beginning of the month of Ramadan in Kyrgyzstan (August 21), is earlier than those already announced, apart from Libya (02-Aug-2009) which is always the country with the earliest starting Muslim months.
In the same announcement, the date of this year's Kurman-Ait (Feast of Sacrifice) public holiday was confirmed as Tuesday, November 27, 2009.
