Tuesday, August 25, 2009, the date of the Permatang Pasir by-election, will not be a state public holiday.

Over the past weekend (23-Aug-2009), the Chief Minister of Malaysia's State of Pulau Pinang, Lim Guan Eng, had indicated that he was considering making the date of the Permatang Pasir by-election a one-off public holiday as had been done in similar circumstances, a year ago (24-Aug-2008).
