Mozambique Declares October 28 Public Holiday

The Labour Ministry of Mozambique, after consultation with the trade unions and the employers' associationsof Mozambique, has declared Wednesday, October 28, 2009, a one-off electoral public holiday "to allow the maximum number of people to vote".

On that date Mozambicans will go to the the polls for the country's general and provincial elections. A public holiday was also declared last year on the occasion of the municipal elections (17-Nov-2008).
