Namibia's spokesperson for the Ministry of Information, Wilma Deetlefs, has announced that, so far, she had "not heard anything on a possible public holiday" on the upcoming November 27, presidential and general elections.
She did add that, despite last month's statement by Namibia's Deputy Director for Elections Operations, Theo Mujoro (12-Sep-2009), she "could not recall any other election that there was a public holiday".
However, because some schools will be used for voting, she did announce that Education Permanent Secretary, Vitalis Ankama, had sent out a circular to all schools informing the students and teachers that all schools will be closed for 3 days, from Wednesday, November 25, until Friday, November 27, 2009, inclusively.
