The government of Nepal has declared Sunday, November 29, 2009, the second day of this year's Bakr Eid Muslim festival, a public holiday.
Note that, as Saturdays are the weekly day of rest in Nepal, the first day of the Bakr Eid (aka. Eidul Ajagha) is also a de facto public holiday in Nepal this year.
Today's declaration of an additional Muslim public holiday follows last spring's six-point deal btween the Muslim community and the government of Nepal, in which the latter agreed to "... positively consider to provide public holidays in the festivals of the Muslims" (16-Mar-2009).
The three-day Bakr Eid Muslim festival which started Today, will be observed until Monday, November 30, 2009 (which will not be a public holiday).
