Nigeria May 29 Public Holiday Cancelled In Edo State

(Posted on Wednesday, May 27, 2009)

Source: This Day Online (Abuja)

he Governor of Nigeria's State of Edo, Adams Oshiomhole, has announced that Edo State would not be observing the upcoming May 29, Democracy Day public holiday.

According to government officials, the state plans to hold its own Democracy Day public holiday in November. The most likely date, in our opinion, would be November 11, the date, in 2008, when Adams Aliu Oshiomhole was declared the new governor by Justice Umaru Abdulahi, president of the Court of Appeal, after months of political maneuvering and legal filibustering.
