As expected, Nigeria's Lagos State government declared Friday, June 12, 2009, a work-free public holiday.
The announcement, made by the state commissioner for information and strategy, Mr Opeyemi Bamidele, commemorates the anniversary of the June 12, 1993, presidential election.
In the past, June 12 has usually always declared a public holiday in the preceding days (11-Jun-2008).
