Nigeria's Minister of Interior, Dr. Shettima Mustafa, has announced that the federal government had declared Monday and Tuesday, September 21 and 22, 2009, as public holidays to mark the end of the Muslim month of Ramadan, and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.
This is the second year in a row (25-Sep-2008) that Nigeria moves the End of Ramadan public holidays around to match the beginning of the week, and seems a marked departure from the practice of following the Libyan Muslim calendar that was the norm in previous years (14-Sep-2007).
