Nigeria's Minister of Interior, Major-Gen. Godwin O. Abbe (rtd), has announced that the government of Nigeria had declared Monday, March 9, 2009, as a public holiday to mark the Id-el-Maulud Muslim festival.
This announcement is in line with the historical tradition of Nigeria of following the Libyan LCRSS Muslim Calendar to determine the dates of its public holidays (14-Sep-2007) which are often a day earlier than the rest of the Muslim world.
