This afternoon, in a terse statement, Pakistan's Federal Interior Ministry announced that the recently announced dates for the upcoming public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr (End of Ramadan) had been changed from September 20-22, to September 21-23, 2009.
No explanation was given as to the reason for this shift of the End of Ramadan public holidays, only 2 days after having made a contradictory earlier announcement (14-Sep-2009).
Note, however, that Sundays are weekly non-working days in Pakistan, and that in Monday's announcement, it was stated that the Prime Minister could still declare a 4th public holiday, on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, in the event that the Eid is declared on Tuesday the 22nd of September.
