Panama Makes November 4 A Public Holiday

(Posted on Tuesday, October 27, 2009)

Source: TVN Noticias (Panamá City)

A communique from Panama's Secretaría de Comunicación de Estado has announced that Wednesday, November 4, 2009, would be an official public holiday.

The wording of the Decreto Ejecutivo No. 498 of yesterday, does specify that this is a public holiday (feriado), contrary to previous occasions (such as 06-Dec-2007), when all that was declared was the closing of government offices.

November 4th, sandwiched between the annual public holidays of November 3rd and 5th, is normally observed only by the public sector and the banking industry (whose bank holidays are regulated by the Resolución SBP No. 124-006 de 4 de diciembre de 2006).
