Spain Announces 2010 Public Holidays In Capital Region

(Posted on Wednesday, October 7, 2009)

Source: Consejo de Gobierno de la Comunidad de Madrid (Madrid)

The Consejo de Gobierno de la Comunidad de Madrid has published the list of 2010 public holidays in Spain's Autonomous Comunidad de Madrid.

In 2010, the Autonomous Comunidad de Madrid has declared regional public holidays on March 19 (San José) and June 3 (Festividad del Corpus Christi).

The inclusion of Corpus Christi, began again last year (26-Sep-2008), as one of the regional public holidays of the autonomous community of Madrid. This public holiday had not been celebrated in the Madrid community since 1985 (it used to be a national public holiday throughout Spain until 1975).

Contrary to other regions (06-Jul-2009 and 01-Jul-2009), the region of Madrid has opted not to declare the Monday after the Sunday, August 15, 2009, national public holiday as a regional public holiday.

The Decreto 87/2009, de 30 de septiembre was published in the Boletin Oficial de la Comunidad de Madrid, (BOCM) nº233 del 1 de octubre de 2009.
