Sudan Announces April 11 Election Date

(Posted on Wednesday, November 25, 2009)

Source: Sudan Radio Service (Khartoum)

Sudan's National Election Commission has announced that the upcoming general elections, briefly scheduled for April 5, 2010, will now take place on April 11, 2010.

As the date of the last year's preparatory census was declared a one-off public holiday (11-Apr-2008), we would expect that the date of the upcoming elections, Sunday, April 11, 2010, will also be declared a one-off public holiday.

Recall that, since January 26, 2008, weekends in Sudan are Fridays and Saturdays (09-Jan-2008), and that, as such, Sundays are regular working days.
