Switzerland Asked To Relax Rules For 3 Public Holidays

(Posted on Thursday, August 27, 2009)

The business council of Switzerland's Canton of Solothurn (Office cantonal des arts et métiers-KGV) has petitioned the region's government to allow stores to open on 3 of the region's specific religious public holidays.

These 3 public holidays are Corpus Christi (Fête-Dieu), Assumption (August 15) and Toussaint (All Saints' Day on November 1st). All 3 of these public holidays are public holidays observed only in certain, predominantly Catholic, Cantons of Switzerland.
