E earlier today, Thailand's deputy government spokesman, Phumin Leethiraprasert, announced that the Thai Cabinet had decided to declare 2 additional bridge public holidays in 2010, one to extend the April Songkran public holidays and the other for Her Majesty the Queen's birthday public holiday.

The announced Friday, April 16, 2010, bridge public holiday will create a 6-day period of public holidays, running from Tuesday, April 13, until Sunday, April 18, 2010. Similar adjustments to the Songkran public holidays have been a staple of public holidays in Thailand in recent years (14-Apr-2009, 26-Mar-2008, and 03-Apr-2007).

The other bridge public holiday, on Friday, August 13, 2010, centered around the Queen's Birthday public holiday, and announced today, will create a 4-day period of public holidays, from Thursday, August 12, until Sunday, August 15, 2010.
