The UAE's Chairman of the Federal Human Resources Authority and Minister of Education, Humaid Obeid Al Qatami, has announced an additional public sector holiday on Tuesday, December 1st, 2009, to bride the gap between the 5-day Eid al-Adha, and the 2-day National Day, public sector holidays.

As a result, the UAE's public sector will be on public holidays from Thursday, November 26, to Thursday, December 3, 2009, inclusively, for all of the UAE's ministries and other federal authorities and institutions. A similar National Day bridge public holiday was declared last year (01-Dec-2008).

In a separate communique, the UAE's Minister of Labour, Saqr Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, confirmed that all private sector employees in the UAE would be granted a paid Eid Al Adha public holiday from Thursday, November 26, to Saturday, November 28, 2009. In addition, as was the case last year (26-Nov-2008), Wednesday, December 2, 2009, is also declared as a paid private sector public holiday for the UAE's 38th National Day.
