The Public Employment Minister of Australia's Northern Territory, Chris Burns, has announced that Saturday, December 25, 2010, would be an official public holiday in the Northern Territory.
Notification of the aforementioned additional public holiday was in the Northern Territory Government Gazette No. S60, 25 November 2010, and is in addition to the usual day in lieu Christmas Day public holiday scheduled for Monday, December 27, 2010.
For the moment, the Australian states of South Australia and Victoria have indicated that Saturday, December 25, 2010, would not be a public holiday, while the ACT has announced that the matter was under consideration.
A couple of months ago (16-Sep-2010), the Northern Territory's Government Gazette No. G35, 1 September 2010, confirmed the earlier announcement (31-Aug-2010) that, in recognition that Easter Monday and Anzac Day both fall on Monday 25 April 2011, the Minister for Public Employment had declared an additional public holiday on Tuesday 26 April 2011.
