Bangladesh's Home Minister, Sahara Khatun, has announced that an inter-ministerial meeting had recommended to the government of Bangladesh that it extend the upcoming Eid-ul-Fiter (End of Ramadan) public holidays from three to five days.
A similar extension of the Eid-ul-Fiter public holidays was declared last year (20-Sep-2009).
The minister's statement goes on to say that the recommendadtion was made "so that people can avoid traffic congestion and hazards while going to their near and dear ones", and that It will also propose to the government to close all educational institutes of the capital from 10th of Ramadan to avert traffic congestion.
