The government of Bangladesh has announced that it had agreed to change the scheduled date for the upcoming Janmashtami public holiday to September 1, 2010.

Earlier this month (07-Aug-2010), the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, responsible for the celebrations of the Bangladeshi Hindu community, had asked the government of Bangladesh to bring forward the scheduled date for the Janmashtami public holiday to September 1, 2010.

The date of the upcoming Janmashtami public holiday will thus have been changed twice this year, as it was originally announced (23-Nov-2009) by the government of Bangladesh as August 15, and this was later changed (25-May-2010) to September 2, 2010.
